Homework Assistance
Join us for 7th period and after school help with homework Monday through Friday. Our Homework Leaders have BA/BS and MA degrees! They are excellent at helping students with homework, but not just that, they are also great mentors that you can talk to about problems with your classes, tests, college life and life after college (jobs, career choices and continuing your education to obtain higher degrees). The environment is always "kick-back", so be ready to relax, get your homework done and have some good laughs with other students and the Homework Leaders team. We provide free snacks during our after school session. So, don't be shy and drop by!
Youth Employment
Are you broke and looking for a job, but you don't know where to start? Come to the Beacon and learn how to create your résumé, to conduct yourself during an interview and what the latest employment opportunities are.
YouthCares is a program for High School youth who want to work with immigrant seniors in the community and get paid! Youth attend weekly trainings on job skills, communication and leadership skills as well as provide companionship to seniors, run the food bank and teach ESL and computer classes and get paid! Youthcares is a project of IISF.
